Demag Cranes consolidates position as supplier to the automotive industry
Düsseldorf, 28. March 2012
- Supply of 28 crane installations to serve press lines
- Sustainable partnership with customers
Demag Cranes has further consolidated its position as a partner of the
automotive industry. The company received an order from BMW to supply a total of 28 crane
installations to serve press lines at its locations in Leipzig, Regensburg and Dingolfing. The order
includes 23 process cranes with lifting capacities of up to 55 tonnes, two semi-portal cranes, one full
portal crane and two standard cranes.
With the order, BMW and Demag Cranes are continuing a proven, long-standing partnership. For
decades the company has already been working with technology from Demag Cranes in production.
Dr. Lars Brzoska, Executive Vice President of Industrial Cranes and Member of the Executive
Committee at Demag Cranes, sees the order as a result of a consistent commitment to the customer,
including services as well as products: “We focus on sustainability in our customer relationships.
Accordingly, every day we endeavour to convince our customers of our efficiency and capability. We
are pleased that BMW is continuing to count on us for this exciting project, too.”
This order is the second major project with BMW within only four years. Initially in 2008, nine process
crane installations were delivered to Leipzig, Regensburg and Dingolfing.
Versatile use of Demag technology
The products of Demag Cranes are used at three locations for handling process tools, serving process
lines and coil installations and for maintenance work. Among other things, they are equipped with
electrically powered rotating load hooks, which feature a weighing system and enable connection of
external load handling attachments such as coil tongs and mechanical load bars.
Demag Cranes – proven technology partner of the automotive industry
Demag Cranes has decades of experience with process and industrial cranes, which makes the
company a leading supplier also to the automotive industry. Demag solutions are state of the art and
are characterised by high efficiency and a long service life. Car manufacturers such as BMW rely on process cranes from Demag Cranes, which, for example, ensure that press lines are served efficiently
and reliably. Moreover, the Demag modular KBK light crane system is used in numerous production
plants around the globe and undertakes complex tasks as part of the production process.
