- 35 cranes on two production lines
- Member of the Management Board Thomas H. Hagen: Our position in the Russian growth market has been further strengthened
Demag Cranes Group has recently equipped John Deere's new production location in Russia with crane technology. The volume of this order comprises 35 crane installations which operate on two assembly lines run by the world’s largest manufacturer of agricultural machinery. The project was managed by the Russian regional subsidiary of Demag Cranes, which also coordinated the local steelwork, assembly and erection work.
John Deere built its new manufacturing plant and spare parts distribution centre close to Russia’s largest airport Domodedovo, some 35 km south of Moscow city centre. Here, the company assembles large tractors, combine harvesters, backhoe loaders, wheel loaders, timber harvesters and forwarders in an area measuring 20,000 square metres. In addition, a 27,000 square metre parts distribution facility has been built to supply John Deere customers direct in Russia and the surrounding markets.
Service concept for high availability
A service concept individually tailored by Demag Cranes` regional subsidiary in Russia ensures that the crane installations are maintained to a high level of availability long-term. Michael Poturemskiy, CEO of Demag Cranes in Russia comments, “Our customer John Deere also benefits from the close vicinity of the Demag Cranes service centre in the capital Moscow. The crane project installed here will provide important support for production as part of John Deere’s growth programme in the country with the largest surface area in the world.” The John Deere Operations Manager responsible for the facilities in Russia, Alexi Kuznetov, states, “Russia has excellent opportunities to become one of the world’s largest food producers and a supplier of renewable commodities. With our new production facilities and spare parts distribution centre in Russia, we are taking an important step to move even closer to our customers. On the basis of many reference installations in our plants and its global manufacturing organisation, we decided in favour of Demag Cranes in order to implement the entire project in a very tight timeframe.”
Thomas H. Hagen, member of the Management Board of Demag Cranes and COO, comments, “The contract we were awarded by John Deere further strengthens our position in the Russian market. In one of the main markets where we are focussing our growth strategy, we have demonstrated our technology leadership for cranes and hoists.”
