Demag Cranes AG welcomes this year's new trainees and apprentices

  • Forty-five trainees and apprentices start their training at five German locations
  • High standards of vocational training lay the foundations for successful individual careers and securing the company's future

Düsseldorf, 16 August 2010. Demag Cranes AG continues its strategy of training its own staff in 2010/2011. As the new academic year gets under way, no less than 45 young adults started their careers in ten different professions at the five different German locations. In line with the ongoing corporate integration activities, the joint welcoming ceremony for all the new staff took place at the company's headquarters in Düsseldorf-Benrath.

Peter Pohlner, member of the Executive Committee of Demag Cranes AG with responsibility for human resources management worldwide, emphasised: "We take our responsibilities with regard to providing young people with high-quality vocational qualifications very seriously. This gives them a professional future and very good chances of making a success of their lives. Vocational training is, therefore, a key component in securing the future of the company."

Josef Berger, Chairman of the Joint Works Council and Member of the Supervisory Board of Demag Cranes AG, welcomed the new employees on behalf of the company's staff. In doing so, he underlined the opportunities created by good vocational training: “I would ask all our trainees and apprentices to take full advantage of the opportunities made available to you through these training places. Demag Cranes AG, a multinational enterprise, offers numerous exciting, challenging career paths and, as a result, many ways of shaping your professional futures."

During the initial meeting, the new trainees and apprentices were able to find out more about their new employer. The trainees and apprentices now in their second year presented the broad range of professions that can be learned at Demag Cranes AG. This was followed by a guided tour of the location to show the new staff the production facilities for mobile harbour cranes and systems for automating terminal technology on the Düsseldorf-Benrath site.

With the addition of these 45 new trainees and apprentices, the total number of young people in training with Demag Cranes AG reaches 181, spread across the facilities at Düsseldorf, Wetter, Luisenthal (Thuringia), Uslar (Lower Saxony) and Rheinberg (Northrhine-Westfalia).

At the same time, Demag Cranes AG is already planning for the next intake: from today, applications are being accepted for training places beginning in summer 2011. Those interested are asked to contact the company direct to request additional information on the application process.
